With a purpose to enable schools in their mission and to promote learning that effectively prepares students for life, the ACSI Northeast Regional Office provides the following professional development activities that are specifically designed for its member schools: distance learning webinars, mini-PDS webinar events of 1–2 hours in length, or a full-day event for a school staff.
Distance Learning Webinars
With an ongoing commitment to provide convenient and affordable professional development services to its member schools, the ACSI Northeast Region offers a fully developed distance learning webinar schedule for the 2009–10 school year. Any combination of webinar hours can be used towards Continuing Education Units (CEU) or state clock hours.
Schools interested in participating in these events must have the following hardware components to access this live media presentation:
- Computer with high-speed internet connection
- Video projector to display PowerPoint presentation onto a large screen
(for large groups only)
- A telephone connection or Voice over IP (VoIP) may be used for the audio component of the webinar. Your computer should have a quality speaker (or speakers attached) and a microphone if you wish to use VoIP. To listen only, no microphone is required.

Full Day or Mini-PDS Webinar Events
With a strong commitment to assist schools to enable educators, school leaders are encouraged to consider scheduling a full day live event or a mini ACSI PDS webinar event. These events can be scheduled anywhere from 1–2 hours (mini webinar event), before, during, or after school—or a 6-hour all-day live event.

- Gender Appropriate Instruction for Elementary & Middle School Students
(K–8)
- Let's Play! Learning Through Play (Birth–K)

- Nurturing Discipline (Birth–K)
- Playing Math (Birth–K)
- Questions That Matter (Literacy) (Birth–K)
- Understanding and Utilizing SAT 10 Results (K–8)
- Other topics as requested

2010 August PDS Events
Throughout the week of August 16–20, 2010, ACSI will host one-day professional development events at yet-to-be-determined regional school sites. The featured presenters will be:
Dr. Timothy Heaton, Professor of Education at Cedarville University
Dr. Kevin Washburn, Executive Director of Clerestory Learning
The topic to be addressed at each of these events will be:
Current Brain Research and Its Implication for Effective Classroom Instruction
These events are designed for new and veteran teachers of both elementary and secondary levels and will qualify for one C.E.U., as well as state clock hours for professional development. They will include a total of 6 hours of instruction, from 8:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.
Schools interested in becoming a host site are to contact David Hegedus for details. Agreements with interested host schools sites will be confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis.
