Thank you to all who attended the 2009 "Summer Institute." The dates for next year's event are July 11–15, 2010 and we do hope you will make plans to join us again or maybe for the first time! This will be the 40th celebration and Dr. Brian Simmons, newly installed president of ACSI will be our keynote. The Institute is located on the beautiful campus of Columbia International University in Columbia, South Carolina.

What is the International Institute for Christian School Educators?
Two hundred or more Christian school practitioners spend five days in challenging general sessions, professional seminars, inspiring prayer and share times, and numerous networking opportunities with colleagues from across the United States and around the world. Also called “Summer Institute,” this is a formal and informal training experience in the philosophy of Christian school education and its implications for the entire school setting.

What is the format of the Summer Institute?
In addition to daily general sessions and elective workshops, delegates are given the opportunity to select an in-depth study track to meet their specific professional development needs.
Study tracks can include Bible training, Christian and Personnel law, budgeting and finance including financial aid, leadership development, school assessment, and specific instruction in academic content areas.

Is there college credit available?
All participants taking CEUs (not one of the 2 or 3 credit graduate courses) are eligible to receive one semester hour of graduate credit in educational leadership/administration (EDU 5100-Topics in Christian School Education) from CIU for their Institute attendance at no additional cost. However, CIU must have an official, sealed transcript on file, and delegates will be required to complete an application project during the week of IICSE.
For interested delegates, CIU provides two-semester-hour and three-semester-hour graduate credit courses for an additional fee.
What is the cost of Summer Institute?
The Summer Institute cost includes registration, food, lodging, Bible and/or professional CEUs, and airport shuttle service to and from the Columbia, SC airport. The cost is approximately $700 per delegate.
Delegates selecting the graduate credit option will be charged an additional fee.

Are there Scholarships available?
CIU and ACSI each offer a limited number of need-based $200 scholarships.

*Interested delegates must request a scholarship application and submit it by May 14, 2010, to be considered.
What discounts are being offered this year?
Delegates eligible for more than one discount will receive only one discount, whichever is larger. The maximum allowable discount for any one delegate is $200.
- Accompanying spouse. Spouses receive a discount of $200. Their cost covers room and board and entitles them to take part in all sessions and activities of the Institute. No additional discounts may be applied. Delegates should attach their spouse’s registration with their own.
- Institute alumni receive a discount of $200 if they bring a first-time attendee other than their spouse. The registration form for the first-time attendee must be attached to the registration of the alumnus. No additional discounts may be applied.
- Two delegates from the same school (not including a spouse or an alumnus): A discount of $75 per delegate will be applied to the Institute cost. Registrations must be sent together.
- Three or more delegates from the same school (not including a spouse or an alumnus): A $100 discount per delegate will be applied to the Institute cost. Registrations must be sent together.

Internationals
International IICSE participants who are planning to take a graduate course for credit must be fully accepted into a program of study at CIU and be granted an F-1 Student Visa (a process that takes several months). Apply to CIU, or call 1.800.777.2227, ext. 5345. International students who have not been fully accepted as students at CIU and do not have F-1 visas (but have tourist visas instead) may still attend IICSE and may either take CEU courses or audit a graduate course for no credit.
Do delegates get copies of the presentations?
Each delegate receives a notebook with the outlines for all plenary sessions and elective workshops. In addition, an extensive handout is provided to each delegate for the specific in-depth study track chosen.
