As we approach Christmas, we asked Spiritual Life Directors at ACSI member schools how their school community celebrates this special season!
Lilly Wooten – Christian Life Director at Liberty Christian Academy in Richlands, NC
At Liberty Christian Academy, Christmas is our absolute favorite time of year, as we focus on the true meaning of the season—the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
Each year, on the Friday before Christmas break, we come together for a special school-wide chapel service, bringing together all K–12th grade students. This cherished event includes Christmas-themed Minute to Win It games featuring our teachers, joyful Christmas worship songs led by our student worship team, and my personal favorite— a reenactment of the nativity story.
Staff members dress as wise men, angels, shepherds, Mary, and Joseph, while I narrate the story. You can find highlights of this special celebration on our social media, linked below.

Our Christmas festivities extend beyond our school walls, with opportunities for community outreach:
-Younger grades create and decorate ornaments for local nursing homes. -We collect toys for children’s hospitals and food donations for local outreach programs. -Each K–4th grade class performs a Christmas concert for their families. To add even more joy, we host a special Christmas spirit week, and you can guarantee joyful Christmas music playing in the car line in the mornings.
Christmas at Liberty Christian Academy is a season of worship, joy, and giving as we celebrate the greatest gift of all—Jesus Christ.
Justin McAdams – Director of Spiritual Development at Prestonwood Christian Academy (North Campus) in Prosper, TX
We started a program at Prestonwood Christian Academy called Season of Service. Traditionally, we have held a Middle School Service Day around this time, but we’re introducing a new initiative called the Season of Service. This program shifts from a single day of service to a season-long opportunity, empowering families to serve together. We believe this new format will make it easier and more enjoyable for your whole family to engage in community service together.
Dr. Stephen Jordan – Director of Spiritual Life at First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, GA
Here are a few things we do to celebrate Christmas at First Presbyterian Day School:
-Christmas Tree Lighting where we sing Christmas songs, reflect upon the birth of Christ, and light a campus Christmas tree together that stays lit the entire Christmas season.
-An Elementary Christmas program.
-Fine Arts Christmas Concert.
-Christmas chapels across all grade levels.
-Christmas-themed small groups (“Viking Circles”) for MS & HS students.
-Service projects including singing at nursing homes. One of our elementary grades encourages students to raise money in December by doing extra chores at home. Each class compiles their money and then goes on a shopping trip where they buy items for children throughout our city who may not receive Christmas gifts.
-Our Chick-fil-A Leader Academy students last Christmas blessed first responders with some Christmas goodies across our city, and we also prayed with each group.
